Icon of Toys of Yesteryear achievement
The Christmas Toys of Yesteryear Event 2021 was a Christmas / New Year event held by SCS Software through the World of Trucks platform, covering both American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2. The event started on December 16, 2021 and ended on January 16, 2022.
Rules
- Participants (truckers) must have a World of Trucks profile connected to either Euro Truck Simulator 2 or American Truck Simulator.
- Truckers may participate in the event by completing external contracts of the cargo type Gifts.
- This implies that truckers must own a truck, because external contracts can only be claimed by player-owned trucks.
- A city receives a "gift" when 1,000 deliveries are made, regardless of whether the city is the source or the destination.
- Every city can have a maximum of 10 "gifts".
- To achieve the Personal goal, a trucker must complete at least 15 deliveries of Gifts in either Euro Truck Simulator 2 or American Truck Simulator.
- There is no restrictions on the number of deliveries made to or from any city. A trucker may complete the personal goal with 15 trips from / to the same two cities and depots.
- The count applies across both games. A trucker may win awards for both games even if the personal goal is completed with only one game.
- The Community goal comprises of 7 tiers for each of Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator, with each tier needing 350 "gifts" to complete. 2,450 "gifts" are required to complete all community goals.
- Every trucker must complete their personal goal to receive any reward.
Gameplay
As mentioned in the rules, truckers must find Gifts deliveries through the External Contracts interface.
During the event, all cities' icons on the map are in the shape of gift instead of circular ball-like icons. Cities having achieved 10 "gifts" will have its gift icon glowing in amber.
When the trucker moves the cursor over the city's icon, a floating box will display the city's actual progress, including:
- The number of "gifts" received (gift icons in amber, plus a white gift icon if the city has not received the maximum of 10 gifts).
- The number of deliveries made to get the next "gift" (every 1,000 deliveries yields a gift).
Nevertheless, the game interface instructs truckers to refer to World of Trucks for the "detailed progress".
The size and brightness of the icons follow the usual rules (i.e. dim icons for undiscovered cities and small icons for cities with reduced or no facilities).
Truckers must select one of the "Gifts" cargo and click the "Begin Delivery" button to start a delivery job. Every completed delivery job counts at most twice: One for the origin city and one for the destination city. However, if one or both of the cities have received all 10 "gifts", the delivery will not be counted for the maxed out city.

- For completion of Personal Goal alone, the rewards include:
- The World of Trucks Achievement Toys of Yesteryear.
- "A beautiful array of decorative lighting for truck cabs in each game, at least 1 for each truck brand, as a truck accessory item."
- Each tier of Community goal brings an award, with a total of 7 tiers:
- Tier 1: Nutcracker’s Guard.
- Tier 2: Push N Go Race Car.
- Tier 3: Rocking Horse.
- Tier 4: Willy Wind Up Mouse.
- Tier 5: Old Oak Steam Train.
- Tier 6: Yesteryear Teddy Bear.
- Tier 7: Clicky the Robot.

Trivia
- The 2021 event featured Dry Freighter / Dry Van trailers for the "Gift" cargo, instead of Flatbed trailers featured in most previous Christmas events.
- The 2018 event also featured closed trailers, but the ETS 2 gift trailer was a curtainsider back then.
- The 2021 event was the first to count deliveries from and to cities together. As a result, the imbalance of delivery numbers encountered in some cities (e.g. Terni) in previous events did not re-occur.
- In theory, at least 1,225,000 deliveries have to be made to achieve the highest tier (tier 7) of the community goal, as each delivery counts twice, one to the origin and one to the destination. However, the non-uniform distribution of deliveries means that the actual number of deliveries made by the time the highest tier is reached is probably higher.
