Nevada is a landlocked state of the United States, which is featured in American Truck Simulator. It was the second ever state to be announced and released on February 2, 2016.

Summary

The state is bordered by California to the west, Oregon and Idaho to the north, Utah to the east, and Arizona to the southeast. A medium-sized state, Nevada consists mostly of desert. The state's most renowned cities are Las Vegas and Reno, each famous for their casinos. Nevada can be a great and unique experience for players, with seemingly endless cracked and empty highways to haul cargo along.

Geography

Nevada is a landlocked state situated in the Western region of the United States. It is bordered by California to the west, Oregon and Idaho to the north, Utah to the east, and Arizona to the southeast. Nevada is almost entirely within the Basin and Range Province and is broken up by many north–south mountain ranges. Most of these ranges have endorheic valleys between them.

Geographically, the state can be divided into three regions: the Columbia Plateau, the Sierra Nevada, and the Basin and Range Province. The Columbia Plateau is located in the northeastern corner of the state, the land is supported by lava bedrock. Rivers and streams have cut deeply into the bedrock, leaving deep canyons with steep ridges. Near the Idaho border the land turns to open prairie. The Sierra Nevada is the rugged mountain range that cuts across a portion of Nevada south of Carson City. Lake Tahoe, a beautiful glacial lake, on the California/Nevada border lies in one of the valleys of the Sierra Nevada. The Basin and Range Province is divided by more than 150 mountain ranges running from north to south. The Basin and Range Region is bordered on the west by the Sierra Nevada. In the center of the state are the Toiyabe and Toquima mountain ranges. In the east are the Snake and Toana mountain ranges. Scattered between all of the ranges are buttes (single lone hills) and mesas (flat-topped mountains) as well as flat valleys with lakes or alkalie flats. Hot springs and geysers are remnants of the dying volcanoes that once populated Nevada.

Climate

Nevada is the driest state in the United States. It is made up of mostly desert and semi-arid climate regions, and, with the exception of the Las Vegas Valley, the average summer diurnal temperature range approaches 40 °F (22 °C) in much of the state. While winters in northern Nevada are long and fairly cold, the winter season in the southern part of the state tends to be of short duration and mild. Most parts of Nevada receive scarce precipitation during the year. The most rain that falls in the state falls on the east and northeast slopes of the Sierra Nevada.

Nevada (Spanish for 'snow covered') is the 7th most extensive (110,561 sq. mi), the 35th most populous (2,890,845 people), and the 9th least densely populated of the 50 United States. The economy of Nevada is tied to tourism (especially entertainment and gambling related), mining and cattle ranching. Nevada was founded on mining and re-founded on sin - beginning with prizefighting and easy divorce a century ago and later extending to gaming and prostitution.

History in the Truck Simulator series

Inclusion of cities

Among the 18 Wheels of Steel games, Las Vegas and Reno were included in Hard Truck, Convoy, Haulin', and American Long Haul. Las Vegas was also included in Pedal to the Metal.

Eight more cities were initially included in American Truck Simulator, bringing the total to 10.

Rework

While a complete rework of Nevada has not been confirmed, future plans to start reworking several other states after California were revealed in the blog post announcing the second phase of the California rework,[2] and Nevada was one of the states visited during SCS Software's research trip to current and future rework areas.[3]

Small parts of Nevada were added or completely reworked as part of the California rework: Update 1.41 as part of the first phase completely reworked US 395 from Reno to northern California. Update 1.44 as part of the second phase completely reworked Interstate 80 from California to Reno and added the scenery town of Verdi. Update 1.50 as part of the third phase completely reworked US 6 from California to Tonopah and US 395 from central California to Carson City, replaced the scenery town of Walker Lake with Topaz Lake, and added Holbrook Junction, Mount Montgomery, and SR 208.

While the California rework has currently only affected areas that were added or reworked before the release of Oregon, it is not known whether that would apply to a complete rework of Nevada, as there is one exception: US 6 from California to Tonopah was completely reworked in the third phase despite already being reworked in update 1.34. Beyond that, the following areas were added or reworked after the release of Oregon: Connecting roads to Idaho and Utah were added upon their release. Update 1.34 completely reworked Tonopah and the surrounding area and added SR 140 from Oregon to US 95. Update 1.38 expanded and partially reworked Las Vegas and added SR 319 from Panaca to Utah.

Release History

Since the release of the DLC, new major content has been added to it for free in game updates (not including road connections to new neighboring states).

Before the state was released, SCS published several hints and news topics about the content featured in it that was previously under work in progress.

  • 2 February 2016: Nevada is released as part of the base game.[14]
