Connections

Düsseldorf can only be accessed from the A3 to the east. The A44 branches off of the A3 and runs along the north side of the city, connecting to the Düsseldorf Airport.

Within the city itself, the A52 branches off of the A44 through the eastern side of the city, and the B1 covers the southern portion of the city.

Düsseldorf's one main access point is through the A46, which runs east from the city to a junction with the A43 and A1. From here, the A1 can be taken east towards Osnabrück and Bremen or south to Köln, and the A43 can be followed north for a short distance to reach Duisburg (via A40) or Dortmund (via A45). Two minor roads exit from Düsseldorf: One runs south to Köln and the A4, and the other runs north to Duisburg. Both roads feature gas stations along the way to their respective destination cities.

All accesses to Düsseldorf are through minor or unnumbered roads. The main road through Düsseldorf exits the city to the south and heads for the A45 near Dortmund. Two minor roads branch from it; both run south to Köln and the A4, but one of them also goes northeast to the road connecting Duisburg with the A45. Another small road links Düsseldorf directly with Duisburg. Along this road, one can find a gas station.
