- In the initial version of American Truck Simulator, Sacramento was accessed by Interstate 5 and Interstate 80 and featured a small Bitumen service shop, a Plaster & Sons building construction site, a small Wallbert food market, two Wallbert warehouses, a garage, a Gallon Oil gas station, two hotels (one Sunset Motel and one Starlite Inn), and a service shop in the city proper, as well as a Bitumen roadworks site north of the city. The landmarks in Sacramento were the Sacramento River, the Tower Bridge, the Capital Square, the Courthouse and Federal Building, and the Wells Fargo Center.
- In update 1.32, the diamond interchange of Interstate 80 and Reed Avenue was changed to a folded diamond interchange, and the cloverleaf interchange of Interstate 5 and Interstate 80 was changed to a cloverstack interchange.
- In update 1.37, a Mack truck dealer was added.
- In update 1.41, as part of the first phase of the California rework, a Sunshine Crops farm north of Sacramento was added.
- In update 1.44, as part of the first phase of the California rework, Sacramento was completely reworked. All roads and junctions were rebuilt, and US 50 and CA 16 were added. The small Bitumen service shop, the Plaster & Sons building construction site, the small Wallbert food market, one of the two Wallbert warehouses, the Gallon Oil gas station, the two hotels, and the service shop were removed. The city was separated into three parts. A southwestern part featuring a Coastline Mining depot and a Farmer's Barn factory was added and the Wallbert warehouse, the garage, and the Mack truck dealer were moved into the area. A southeastern part featuring a Charged warehouse, a Home Store warehouse, a Sell Goods warehouse, and a Voltison Motors warehouse was added. A northwestern part featuring a truck stop with a Gallon Oil unloading point was added. A Mon Coeur vineyard northwest of Sacramento was added.
- In update 1.50, US 50 was extended east past Depot Park to South Lake Tahoe and Carson City, Nevada.
- In update 1.51, the Gallon Oil unloading point was replaced by a Driverse unloading point.
- In update 1.53, the Charged warehouse, Home Store warehouse, Voltison Motors warehouse, Wallbert food warehouse were replaced by a Venture warehouse, Starbridge warehouse, Apade warehouse, and Enterpriser warehouse respectively.
