A country is a body of land within the continent of Europe.
Summary
Throughout the years of Euro Truck Simulator 2, Luxembourg and Slovakia were added to the game, while Spain and Portugal were omitted, as well as a major part of France and Italy. The map, on the other hand, became more detailed, and new cities were added to most countries. There are 34 countries that are accessible.
The country restriction is removed in Euro Truck Simulator 2, meaning that a fee is no longer required to gain access to other countries. The fuel price differences, however, remain.

- In Euro Truck Simulator 2, the Italian cities of Ancona, Bologna, Genova and Roma were originally planned to be included in the base game, but were omitted in the finished game due to time constraints. Those 4 cities are included in the Italia DLC instead.

- West Balkans: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Slovenia added.
- Heart of Russia: Another area of Russia will be expanded.
- Iberia: Spain and Portugal added.
- Road to the Black Sea: Romania, Bulgaria and the European part of Turkey (Thrace / Trakya) added.
- Beyond the Baltic Sea: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, southern Finland and small parts of Russia added.
- Italia: Includes the rest of Italy.
- Vive la France!: Includes the rest of France, new roads were added in northern Italy.
- Scandinavia: Denmark, Norway and Sweden added.
- Going East!: Includes the rest of Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia, Hungary added.

- States, the similar territory type in American Truck Simulator, but with all of them being in the same country (i.e. the United States). They function essentially the same as countries in Euro Truck Simulator 2 do and are even referred to as such in the game config files.
