Trucks, also known as a lorry are vehicles that transport trailers in Euro Truck Simulator 2.

Summary

Trucks are the key component of Euro Truck Simulator 2 which allow you to transport goods from one location to another. There are currently 7 truck manufacturers and 25 different models in Euro Truck Simulator 2, all of which can be serviced and upgraded in service shops. For information on where to purchase the trucks, visit the truck dealer or used truck dealer articles.

Models

Models listed with an Availability of "Used Truck Dealer" are initially only available in a used state from the used truck dealer feature. After you bought a used one you can buy this model as new from the truck dealer when you select "Fleet" (or "My Fleet Configurations" if buying online) instead of "Stock Offers" and as long as you have this model in your posession (since update 1.49).

There are 25 trucks in Euro Truck Simulator 2.

Upgrading

Every truck brand in Euro Truck Simulator 2 offers at least two or more base models (as of Update 1.34). Every model has a series of options that can be upgraded by the player's choice. As you increase in level, higher tier upgrade options become available. Normally, a truck can be upgraded with the options below:

Upgrading Types and Options:

  1. Cabin
    1. Tier 1 Cabin - Small overall size (eg. Sleeper (Volvo); Normal (Scania) )
    2. Tier 2 Cabin - Medium overall size (eg. Globetrotter (Volvo); Highline (Scania) )
    3. Tier 3 Cabin - Large overall size (eg. Globetrotter XL (Volvo); Topline (Scania) )
  2. Chassis (slightly affects stability and turning radius, but upgrade means lower fuel tank capacity)
    1. 4x2 (four wheels with a steerable front axle and a powered rear axle -- has the tightest turn radius)
    2. 6x2 (six wheels with a steerable front axle, a middle axle, and a powered rear axle -- has a poor turn radius)
    3. 6x2/4 (six wheels with a steerable front axle, a steerable middle axle, and a powered rear axle -- has a slightly poorer turn radius than 4x2 but better than 6x2)
    4. 6x2/4 Midlift (six wheels with a steerable front axle, a steerable, liftable middle axle, and a powered rear axle -- turn radius unaffected by lift state)
    5. 6x2 Rear Taglift (six wheels with a steerable front axle, a powered middle axle, and liftable rear axle -- when rear wheels are up, has a better radius then 6x2 but slightly worse than 4x2, when down similar to 6x2)
    6. 6x4 (six wheels with a steerable front axle and two powered rear axles -- has a poor turn radius but is otherwise similar to 6x2)
    7. 8x4 (eight wheels with a steerable front axle, a steerable middle axle and two powered rear axles -- has the poorest turn radius, but recommended for Heavy Cargo Pack & Special Transport DLC)
  3. Motors (see above)
  4. Transmission (the R series include a retarder which prevents the truck from accelerating too much down the hill and is seen as an "R" on the dashboard when activated)
  5. Interior Design
    1. Standard / Privilege (has a built-in GPS on the Mercedes-Benz New Actros, DAF XF Euro 6, Volvo FH16)
    2. Standard UK / Privilege UK (Right-side steering wheel and speedometer showing miles per hour (mph) )
    3. Exclusive / Trust Edition / Excellence / Route 66 (has built-in GPS except in both Renault and Mercedes-Benz Actros)
    4. Exclusive UK / Trust Edition UK / Excellence UK / Route 66 UK (Right-side steering wheel, has built-in GPS except in both Renault and Mercedes-Benz Actros)
    5. Exclusive V8 (Scania only, has built-in GPS)
    6. Exclusive V8 UK (Scania only, Right-side steering wheel, has built-in GPS)
  6. Paint Colors (Own truck factory paint jobs)
  7. Exterior
    1. Lights
    2. Horns
    3. Exhausts
    4. Sideskirts
    5. Wheels (including rims, covers, nuts, and hubs)
    6. Mirrors
    7. Steps
    8. Door handles
    9. Front/Top Grills and lights / air horns supporters
    10. Bull Bars
  8. Interior (Interior view, custom license plates can be placed in the windshield, also used for interior customization mods)

FAQ

  • Q: Why does vehicle development take a long time?
    • A: SCS doesn't announce things that are not in the stage of Beta testing, in case anything happens, manufacturers postpone due to a design/sound issues or major licensing factors come into play which can cause a delay. [1].
  • Q: Why aren't after-market truck accessories or add-ons apart of a truck release?
    • A: What you get as "free" part of the truck is completely factory products that are still available in production and everything that comes from this brand as part of this truck when you buy or order from the factory itself. Any Tuning DLC's or after-market accessories have to be separate DLC's. [2]
