European Route E65 is a Class-A reference road running north-south, passing through Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and the Balkans. The stretch from Szczecin to Bratislava is included in the Euro Truck Simulator 2 base game map, and further additions were made with the release of the Going East! and West Balkans DLCs.

Route Description

In real life, the E65 reaches as far south as Chania, Greece and as far north as Malmö, Sweden (both of which were accessible due to the use of ferries). Starting in Malmö, the route makes a short hop across the Baltic Sea before moving down western Poland and through the Czech Republic. After following the western borders of Slovakia and Hungary, the route meanders around the Balkan nations before ending up in Greece, with a final short ferry from Kalamata to the island of Crete. Most of the E65 is fully traversible in-game, with the exceptions of the Greek and Swedish portions (the first due to it not being playable yet, and the second due to the route not being rendered). There is only a tiny section unrendered in the game which splits the E65 between a northern segment, spanning Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia, and a southern segment, covering Hungary and the Balkans.

In real-life, E60 continues south of the junction with the Hungarian M1 motorway, following Main Road 86 and the M86 Expressway, intersecting with Main Road Hungary Road 8 icon.png. The route continues further south via Main Road 76 and 74 until joining the M7 motorway, where the route turns west to Croatia.

While technically the E65 would pick back up in Hungary along the the M7 motorway in-game, for all intents and purposes the E65 in-game resumes in Croatia.

  • Although the in-game world map has a section of road in southwest Hungary marked as the E65, this is inaccurate, as the in-game route passes much closer to Lake Balaton than the real-life E65. Furthermore, signage in the world (which was added when the region was updated for the West Balkans DLC), refers to the road in question as Main Road 76, which is not a part of the E65 (or at least not the playable section).
  • In real-life, the E65 joins the M7 motorway for some distance, but in-game the distance between the junction with Main Road 76 and the Croatian border is so short that there is barely any space where the E65 could feasibly connect.
  • In-game, the route detours from the M7 motorway onto Main Road 7, where the border crossing into Croatia is found, before rejoining the motorway in Croatia. This segment is not a part of the E65.
