Summary

Croatia is bordered by Slovenia to the northwest, Hungary to the northeast, Serbia to the east, and Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro to the southeast.

Located in southeast Europe, Croatia is geographically diverse. Pelješac Bridge

The number of digits on a state road generally indicates its intended function:

  • Single-digit roads are trunk roads of significant length, typically connecting borders of neighboring countries.
  • Double-digit roads are urban arterial roads.
  • The 400s provide access to ports and airports.
  • The 500s connect state roads together.
  • The 600s designate temporary provisional roads, such as the D674, which identified the Pelješac Bridge upon opening in 2022 until the Ston bypass road on the southern end of the bridge was completed in 2023, after which the bridge was redesignated as a part of the D8.

There is only one ferry route operating services to / from Croatia, which is operated by Polaris Lines:

Trivia

  • Croatia joined the Schengen Area and adopted the Euro at the start of 2023, in the middle of the development of the West Balkans DLC. Early work in progress blog screenshots illustrate that the border crossing with Slovenia was functional, with the border controls being removed by the time of the DLC's release.
