West Balkans was released one day later after the 11th Anniversary of Euro Truck Simulator 2.
West Balkans is the DLC featuring the highest number of countries so far at eight countries, surpassing Beyond the Baltic Sea.
West Balkans is the first map DLC that does not add a new northernmost, southernmost, easternmost or westernmost city to the game.
West Balkans is the first map DLC since Going East! whose logo does not include the flags of the featured countries.
For early adopters of the DLC, having a profile connected to your World of Trucks account and making any delivery using the External Contracts or External Market to or from the city Podgorica will earn a Hermann's tortoise plush toy.[4]
Release History
SCS Software first hinted about the DLC in a blog post to celebrate of the Easter Day posted on 15 April 2022. After that, SCS released information about the DLC in their blog, at about one blog post per month:
15 March 2023: The 1.47 Open Beta is released, revealing some off-limit roads of the DLC.
20 February 2023: Blog post about Trieste, an Italian city near the Slovenian border, which SCS announced that the city will be introduced as a free addition to the base game of Euro Truck Simulator 2 in preparation for the DLC.[27]

20 December 2022: New screenshots were revealed in the SCS Christmas Stream, which showcased the Pelješac Bridge in southern Croatia, the Moračica Bridge in Montenegro and some other places in the West Balkans.[9]

17 April 2022: SCS Software in their Instagram profile, make a post wishing for the whole community a Happy Easter and a new egg as part of the egg hunt appears hidden in the image, showing the Slovenian flag.[32]
15 April 2022: SCS Software makes a blog post promoting an egg hunt for the community on the occasion of the Easter Day. SCS hide the eggs around various SCS Software related websites and social media pages. Each egg was the countries flag of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia.[33]
14 November 2021: The 1.43 Open Beta added in editor_data.sii file references to balkan2 and mentions a prototype related to the city of Zadar, Croatia.[34]
