The Czech Republic (Czech: Česká republika), or alternatively Czechia (Czech: Česko), is a landlocked country in central Europe that is featured in Euro Truck Simulator 2.

Summary

The Czech Republic is bordered by Austria to the south, Germany to the west, Poland to the northeast, and Slovakia to the east. All these countries except Slovakia are featured in Euro Truck Simulator as well, with Slovakia added in the Euro Truck Simulator 2 base game. Along with Poland and Slovakia, the Czech Republic was expanded with one new city in the Going East! map expansion, released on 20 September 2013.

A country famous for its beer and automotive industry covers 78,866 square km. Prague, which is the capital city, is one of the world's most popular tourist destinations. The Czechs have 54,997 km of paved roads, 1,234 km of which are motorways and expressways.

Laws

  • It is mandatory to have headlights turned on at all times when driving in the Czech Republic and those caught not using them will receive a fine.

Roads

The Czech Republic uses two classifications for its main motorway system:

  • Dálnice (Motorways)
  • Rychlostní silnice (Expressways)

The in-game rendition of the Czech Republic initially featured two Rychlostní silnice: the R1 and R10. However, the Rychlostní silnice designation was abolished at the end of 2015, and the signs for the two Rychlostní silnice in the game were updated half a year later. There are now nine Diaľnica in the Czech Republic featured in Euro Truck Simulator 2:

Release History

  • The Czech Republic was included in the initial release of Euro Truck Simulator 2, but only partially, hosting two cities in the western and central part of the country.
  • 20 September 2013: The Going East! map expansion is released, adding one new Czech city.

Trivia

  • The Czech Republic is the country where the developer of ETS2 and ATS (i.e. SCS Software) is located.
  • In 2016, the short form "Czechia" was officially adopted by the Czech government in 2016 as the preferred way to refer to the country, and other governments and organizations like the European Union have gradually shifted to the short form in the following years. However, the English localization of Euro Truck Simulator 2 still continues to use "Czech Republic" to refer to the country on the world map.
