Benelux Rework

Following the completion of the Germany city rework in update 1.53, SCS revealed that the Benelux region (Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg) would be the subject of the next major map rework, dubbed "Project Benelux".

Trivia

  • Belgium, after Luxembourg, is the second smallest country featured in ETS2. After the Going East! DLC was released, it is also the country with second smallest number of cities featured in-game.
  • Before the release of Euro Truck Simulator 2, two dots above Brussel can be seen floating above the map, which indicates that Ghent was going to be featured. Due to scale constraints, the city was not available in-game.[2]
  • The Belgian port of Zeebrugge isn't featured in the game, hence one can't travel directly from Belgium to the United Kingdom, and instead have to use the Channel Tunnel, or the Ferry lines from the Netherlands and France.
  • It should be noted that despite having a national numerotation system, and having dedicated icons present in the game files, signage in Belgium defaults to using the Euroroute numbering scheme to refer to motorways. In addition, the one road which is signed using national road numbers is the Brussels Ring Road, which doesn't have a map icon in the game files.
