The Netherlands (Dutch: Nederland), or alternatively Holland, is a country in western Europe that is featured in Euro Truck Simulator 2.

Summary

The Netherlands is characterized by it's mostly flat terrain (sometimes even below sea level). The country is bordered by Belgium to the south, Germany to the east, and has ferry connections to the United Kingdom. While windmills can be found almost everywhere on the ETS2 map, windmills in the Netherlands are rendered in a unique Dutch style. Another unique feature to the country is the Afsluitdijk, which is part of the A7 between Amsterdam and Groningen.

Only about half of the Netherlands 41,543 square km area exceeds one metre above sea level. The total road network of the Netherlands has 139,295 km, including 2,758 km of expressways. Amsterdam, the capital city, is famous for its nightlife and numerous festivals.

Development History

Benelux Rework

Following the completion of the Germany city rework in update 1.53, SCS revealed that the Benelux region (Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg) would be the subject of the next major map rework, dubbed "Project Benelux".

  • 22 February 2025: Blog post announcing the beginning of Project Benelux, also announcing that Eindhoven will be added as a new city.[1]
