18 Wheels of Steel: American Long Haul (abbreviated as (18 WoS) ALH in this wiki) is a truck simulation game developed by SCS Software and published by ValuSoft in December 3rd, 2007. It is the 6th installment of the 18 Wheels of Steel series.

North America's open roads await! You ain't working for the Man any more! You're the owner of your own trucking business and you call the shots. Build your empire one rig at a time to dominate the roadways and outbid the competition. Can you handle the pressure? Your American Dream starts behind the wheel of your own big rig.

  • Bid - May the best man win. Do you take what the company is bidding for a job or do you move on and lose valuable time? Remember - Profit is King!
  • Haul - Start behind the wheel transporting 45+ types of cargo–including livestock, chemicals, and mobile homes–cross country to bring in the big bucks.
  • Handle - These beasts don't drive themselves! Back up to loading docks, manage your fuel, and maintain your trucks in peak condition.
  • Dominate - Move it better and faster than your competition. Build your reputation coast to coast as you long haul across 48 states, Canada and now Mexico!
  • Grow - Build your business and add rigs to your fleet. Own up to 37 mammoth machines and trailers.

Gameplay

The gameplay is very similar to the gameplay of Haulin', which was released a year before American Long Haul. Compared to Haulin' the map became a bit larger and the companies have been renamed. Some smaller changes are that you can choose in ALH between a male and a female driver at the beginning.

Map

The map includes 36 cities in 48 states of the U.S. (in some states are only roads), five in southern Canada and three in northern Mexico.

Trucks

There are eight different truck manufacturers with 34 models in the game. Compared to the prequel 18 Wheels of Steel: Haulin', two more trucks have been added.

Companies

There are 24 different companies in the game. Compared to the prequel, two new companies have been added, replacing other two.
