Nebraska is a state of the United States, which is featured in American Truck Simulator as a map expansion DLC that was released on May 16, 2024. It is the thirteenth map of DLC involving map expansions, but the twelfth paid one.
The state is bordered by South Dakota to the north, Iowa to the east, Missouri to the southeast, Kansas to the south, Colorado to the southwest and Wyoming to the west. While Nebraska's natural beauty might not draw hordes of tourists, delving into this enchanting state promises to unveil a trove of hidden gems. From the unique Sandhills to its abundance of rivers, Nebraska showcases a diverse array of attractions. Its expansive and fertile land provides an ideal environment for a variety of agricultural endeavors, evident in the numerous farms cultivating crops like corn and more.
Truck stops in Nebraska share a storied history as expansive as the prairies themselves. These facilities have evolved to cater to the evolving needs of the trucking industry, offering a blend of convenience and vital services for drivers seeking a quick refuel, vehicle maintenance, or a well-deserved respite. Rich in history, Nebraska boasts landmarks like The Oregon Trail, a pivotal route in America's westward expansion. While not the longest segment of the trail, Nebraska played a crucial role as a gateway through the Great Plains. One prominent thoroughfare traversing Nebraska is the famed I-80, the state's longest interstate highway. Along this vital artery, travelers will find an array of rest stops and truck stops, catering to their needs for fuel and relaxation.
Before the 1900s, traversing Nebraska was a daunting task with scarce roads. However, by the late 19th century, concerted efforts led to the development of an extensive road network, marking a significant milestone in the state's transportation history. On your trucking journey you may come across scenic viewpoints often feature dedicated turnouts with informational boards, offering insights into the area's history and providing public amenities. Among Nebraska's quirky attractions is Carhenge, a playful replica of England's Stonehenge crafted from cars, serving as a unique roadside marvel. Nebraska boasts the world's largest train yard, known as 'Bailey Yard,' located in North Platte. This colossal facility manages an impressive volume of railroad cars daily and offers tourists a chance to visit the 'Golden Spike Tower' for panoramic views and insights into railroad operations. As a leading agricultural producer, Nebraska hosts several soybean factories, particularly in cities like Scottsbluff, Alliance, and Lincoln, supporting both human consumption and animal feed purposes. Travelers across Nebraska encounter numerous war memorials, serving as poignant reminders of sacrifices made in the pursuit of freedom and justice. Whether nestled in serene countryside or vibrant urban centers, these memorials honor the courage and resilience of those who served.
Geography
Nebraska's expanse is defined by vast openness, a hallmark of the Great Plains region encompassing much of its central and western territories. These sprawling prairies harbor diverse wildlife, offering a sense of boundless freedom and calm for both residents and visitors. In the Sandhills area, undulating sand dunes blanketed in native grasses create a remarkable and untouched landscape, a serene retreat far from the urban bustle. The Mixedgrass Prairie showcases a mosaic of corn, soybeans, and sorghum fields, painting a picturesque agricultural tapestry. For admirers of taller grasses, the Tallgrass Prairie blends expansive grasslands with fields, adding further depth to Nebraska's visual allure. Each biome presents its own allure, ensuring every journey is a unique adventure.
Central to Nebraska's character is its intricate network of rivers and streams, none more renowned than the Platte River. This iconic waterway meanders through towns, roads, and highways, offering a scenic companion to travelers. Whether crossing its bridges or tracing its winding path, the Platte River infuses a sense of tranquility into the virtual hustle and bustle of the road. Furthermore, Nebraska boasts a rich tapestry of flora, with wildflowers embellishing roadsides and landscapes. Among them, the ubiquitous wild sunflowers, seemingly thriving effortlessly, punctuate the scenery. Expect the occasional presence of cattle on the roads, adding a rustic charm to your journey.
