Scania
Scania AB (formerly AB Scania-Vabis), is a major Swedish automotive manufacturer of commercial vehicles, specifically heavy trucks and buses, that is featured in the Truck Simulator series.
Summary
Scania AB is 100% owned by the German automotive company Volkswagen Group, along with MAN SE. Scania's logo shows a griffin, from the coat of arms of the province of Scania (Swedish: Skåne). The headquarters of Scania is located in Södertälje, Sweden.
Truck Simulator Series
Scania is present in numerous SCS Software games:
Euro Truck Simulator
In Euro Truck Simulator, the 'Swift brand acts as a parody of Scania (as SCS Software didn't have the license for official usage at the time). The only swift truck available was based on the Scania 5-Series.
Trucks & Trailers, Scania Truck Driving Simulator
Trucks & Trailers marks the first official appearance of Scania in SCS Games. Eventually, the partnership leads to the release of Scania Truck Driving Simulator, being centered on said brand.
Both games feature a fully licensed Scania 6-Series, which is however not customizable.
Euro Truck Simulator 2
Scania returns in Euro Truck Simulator 2. This time, the manufacturer offers four models: the Streamline, the R 2009, the R and the S, which all of them can be customized. R and S were added to the game in update 1.30.
Scandinavia map expansion DLC introduces the city of Södertälje, which is the headquarters of Scania. As such, Scania's plant is partially modeled, and one can take and deliver cargo there, including delivering Scania trucks to the brand's dealers.
However, it should be noted that the Demo Centre isn't present in the game.
Mighty Griffin Tuning Pack
On June 28, 2016, the Mighty Griffin Tuning Pack DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2 was released, adding more custom parts for the R 2009 and the Streamline. On May 14, 2018, more custom parts for the R and the S was added in update 1.31.
Trivia
- The Euro Truck Simulator 2 versions of Scania trucks have been modded into American Truck Simulator.
