Border Crossing
Border crossings are facilities featured in Euro Truck Simulator 2. They were introduced in the Beyond the Baltic Sea map expansion.
Truckers are obliged to stop at the truck inspection checkpoint, where their documents are checked. As in real life, there are two checkpoints at each border crossing, one for each country.
The Road to the Black Sea expansion introduced more sophisticated border crossings, which include weigh stations, X-Ray controls, and customs checkpoints.
List of border crossings
The following border crossings exist in Euro Truck Simulator 2. At the moment, they are located on the Russian border with Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland, as well as the borders between Balkan countries and partially on the Hungarian border (only on the border sections with Romania and Serbia). In update 1.50, Switzerland was completely reworked and given several border crossing stations; Switzerland is within the Schengen Area but outside the EU Customs Union, and thus goods must be checked at the border.
Only border crossings with active control checkpoints are listed:

Trivia
- Prior to the Beyond the Baltic Sea map expansion, border crossings (mostly deactivated with the Schengen Area) were depicted in the game as normal buildings or rest stops with country flags. There were also some (mostly disused) border checkpoint buildings, which were mere landmarks with no special functionality.
- The former East German border crossing at Marienborn on the A2, now a museum, is visible (but not accessible) at the rest stop of that name.
- Before border crossings were implemented in the game, map mods usually simulated them by setting two toll gates or slow speed areas (20 km/h) close to each other.
- Even though the United Kingdom has border controls with the rest of Europe in real life, no border crossings are depicted in the ferry ports or at the entrances of the Channel Tunnel.
- The game features a border checkpoint between Serbia and Kosovo, while in reality there are none.
- After the introduction of the West Balkans DLC, Serbia became the country with the greatest number of border checkpoints (total of 9), surpassing Russia with 8 checkpoints.
- Most countries have a designated law enforcement agency tasked with guarging the border (named "border police" or something like "border guard service"), while in some this is done by the usual police. In the later case, same policemen as can be met on the roads, are spawned at border checkpoints, but usually without high-visibility vests.
- In the game, Lithuanian border checkpoints are run by the policemen, while in reality there is a special law enforcement agency for this purpose.
- Despite being a part of the Schengen Area with no border controls, in-game Switzerland has several border crossing stations where truckers must stop and present documents.
- Although there is a border crossing station marked on the world map in St. Margrethen, Switzerland, there are no facilities located in the area where truckers can present documents.
- At the time of the release of the Road to the Black Sea map expansion, Romania and Bulgaria were not a part of the Schengen Area despite both being in the European Union, resulting in their shared border receiving border crossing stations. In 2025, both were granted membership into the Schengen Area, but it is unknown if their in-game counterparts will be updated to remove their border controls.
