In American Truck Simulator, license plate designs are assigned based on state or Government body.

Summary

Each state in-game broadly issues four kinds of plates, with the specific eligibility for each varying:

  • Regular passenger plates, assigned to most car traffic.
  • "Apportioned" plates, which are assigned to commercial vehicles, including trucks. The term "apportioned" refers to legal arrangements that allow commercial vehicles registered in one state to be recognised as such by other states.
  • Trailer plates, attached to vehicle trailers.
