A license plate is an identifying marker attached the exterior of vehicles in order to easily identify individual vehicles and confirm that they are properly registered for legal use on the road.

Overview

In both Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator, every vehicle will carry a randomly generated license plate. For AI traffic, the license plate will take the appearance of the country or state the vehicle spawned in, while for both player and company-owned trucks, the license plate will be based on the garage that the vehicle is currently stored at.

The specific details of a license plate can vary depending on a range of factors that are unique to each country or state, including both the type of vehicle and the geographical region its garage is located at.

If your profile is connected to World of Trucks, you have the option of selecting a custom license plate to be applied to the truck that you currently own. You can select any license plate design currently in-game, and write any alphanumeric sequence on it you wish, even if it would not be legal in reality.
