The Bundesautobahn 1 (A1) is a highway in northern Germany. The road as featured in Euro Truck Simulator 2 runs between Travemünde and Köln.

When the game was initially released, the road was shorter, running between Hamburg in the east and Osnabrück in the west, with the A20 taking over in the east and A45 continuing in the west. This section of road is updated along with other parts of northern Germany in version 1.32 update, and a new section is rendered up to an interchange with the minor road running between Kiel and Leipzig. This is to improve connection to Travemünde, a port town newly added to the game map.

Version 1.35 update further reworks the section of A1 near Osnabrück.

The final part of the update comes at version 1.40, with most dual roads in the Ruhr area recognized as Bundesautobahnen. In particular, a new section of A1 is rendered east of Dortmund, replacing the original minor roads all the way to the outskirts of Köln. Since this update, the A1 no longer plugs into A45 directly. Instead, they merely interchange outside Dortmund.

Interestingly, the newest section introduces a TOTSO at the 4-way interchange outside Dusseldorf, although in real-life the A1 simply makes a curve there and does not require drivers to turn off.
