Bolivia (Guarani: Mborivia, Quechua: Puliwya, Aymara: Wuliwya) is a country in South America, featured in 18 Wheels of Steel: Extreme Trucker and 18 Wheels of Steel: Extreme Trucker 2 through the Yungas Road map. Bolivia borders Brazil to the north and east, Argentina and Paraguay to the south, and Chile and Peru to the west. It's unknown if this country will ever be featured in any future trucking games.

The country has two capitals, one of them is featured in both games. The seat of government, La Paz, is present in Extreme Trucker and Extreme Trucker 2. The constitutional capital, Sucre, is not presented in both games.

Bolivian drivers in real-life, drives on the right, while in Extreme Trucker and Extreme Trucker 2, the in-game Traffic AI drives on the left. This is probably because the Yungas Road was a left-hand traffic road. Unlike Australia, Bangladesh, and the United Kingdom, Bolivia allowed drivers on the Yungas Road to drive left-handed to assess the distance of their outer wheel of the vehicle from the edge of the road. Comparing all accessible countries featured in the 18 Wheels of Steel series and the Truck Simulator series, Bolivia is the only accessible country where its right-hand traffic is not presented in-game.

Geography

Bolivia is a landlocked country located in the west-central area of South America. It is bordered by Peru to the northwest, Brazil to the north and the east, Paraguay to the southeast, Argentina to the south, and Chile to the southwest. Bolivia is separated by the Amazon Basin and the Andes Mountains.

To the east, the Amazon Basin reaches its southernmost area. The Amazon Basin is drained by the Amazon River and its tributaries, which covers an area of about 6,300,000 square kilometers (2,400,000 square miles), or about 35.5 percent of the South American continent. In the central portion of Bolivia, the Cordillera Oriental, a mountain range of the Andes Mountains, run through the central portion of the country from Peru to Argentina. The mountain range is a chain of dormant volcanoes and solfataras, which are volcanic vents emitting sulfurous gases. To the west of the country is the high plateau of the Altiplano, which is an area where the Andes are at its widest.

The easternmost areas of the country is mostly a rainforest climate, while the central and western areas of Bolivia is an arid and steppe climate, known for its cold deserts in the country.

The northeastern flank of the Bolivian Andes is the Yungas, from the Aymara and Quechua word yunka meaning "warm valley." Almost inaccessible, the steep slopes and its peaks is mainly a semitropical valley area northeast of the city of La Paz, which offers the most breathtaking and spectacular scenery in Bolivia. The country's land is among the most fertile, but there has been poor transportation that has hindered its agricultural development, with attempts to build a railroad to connect La Paz with the eastern lowlands in 1917. Ultimately after completion of only 150 km of track, the rest of the project was abandoned.

The biggest natural hazards of Bolivia is flooding in the northwest, which can mostly occur from March through April.

As of 2016, the population of Bolivia was more urbanized than its rural areas. The largest cities in the country include Santa Cruz de la Sierra, El Alto and La Paz, and La Guardia as one of the fastest growing towns in the country.

Cities

There are three accessible villages in Bolivia, both of them which were first introduced in Extreme Trucker. The names of these villages do not appear on the map as they appear only in the job market.
