Australia is a continent and an island located in the geographical region of Oceania between the Indian and South Pacific Oceans. Its territory consists of the entire continent and the smaller outlying islands.
Much of Australia's interior is arid; the low average annual rainfall and high temperatures mean interior rivers are often dry and lakes empty. The headwaters of some waterways are located in tropical regions where summer rains create a high rate of discharge. The Great Artesian Basin is Australia's most important source of water, and the world's largest and deepest freshwater basin.
The largest part of Australia is arid or semi-arid, with a total of 18 percent of deserts with names. Only the south-east and south-west corners have a temperate climate and moderately fertile soil. The northern part of the continent has a tropical climate, with its part having tropical rainforests, part grasslands, and part desert. The outback covers 70 percent of the continent.
Though Australia has an estimated population of 25,986,700 as of 2020, the population centers are mostly located at the continent's east and west coasts. The largest cities in Australia are Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide.
There are two accessible towns in Australia, both of them which were first introduced in Extreme Trucker. The names of these towns do not appear on the map as they appear only in the job market.
