US 197
U.S. Route 197 (US 197) is a north–south US highway in Oregon in American Truck Simulator. It runs from US 97 in northern Oregon to Interstate 84 and US 30 in The Dalles.
Course
US 197 begins at US 97 southwest of Shaniko, OR. Soon after its origin, it crosses the gorge of the Deschutes River via a winding, switchbacking route with steep grades. From the south side of the gorge, Mt. Hood, a volcano in the Cascade Range that, at 11,249 feet (3429 m), is the highest point in Oregon, it first sighted, while in the depths of the gorge the highway passes through the town of Maupin. Out of the gorge the highway crosses pasture lands, with Mt. Hood standing prominently to the west; also visible from here is the Timberline Lodge, a historic inn that served as the exterior of the Overlook Hotel in Stanley Kubrick's 1980 film "The Shining" (in real life, the hotel is on the south side of the mountain, and is not visible from any US highway). After intersecting with a road providing access to Bushnell Farms and Sunshine Crops farms, the highway descends into the gorge of the Columbia, where it ends in The Dalles at Interstate 84. In real life, the 197 crosses the Columbia into Washington and ends at WA 14.
