Time zones is a concept, which was introduced into the American Truck Simulator in the 1.29 update. There are three sets (zones) of states, each having its own local time, different from those in other zones.

Time changes automatically when crossing the border between two states belonging to different time zones and when teleporting between such states.

Despite that the real-life Europe is divided into time zones as well, this concept is absent from the ETS 2, as of 1.49 version. Most of the European countries featured in the ETS 2 are located in the Central European Time, apart from UK and Portugal which are located in the Western European Time one hour behind, and apart from Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania and Bulgaria which are located in the Eastern European Time one hour ahead.

Time zones composition

Three of four continental U.S. time zones are present in the ATS (with Eastern Standard Time absent):

Some states have portions of them being located in the neighbouring time zone, different from the one in which the most of the state is located in: a small chunk on the east of Oregon belongs to MST, while the rest of the state belongs to PST; a small chunk on the west of Kansas to MDT, while the rest to CST; a small chunk on the west of Texas to MDT, while the rest to CST. Also, in reality, the northern part of Idaho belongs to PST and the rest of the state to the MDT, but that is not implemented in the game and the state is entirely in the MDT.
