Help:Junction List
This page contains the guidelines on creating tables for junction lists on road-related pages.
General Layout
All junction lists should be comprised of a table with at least 5 columns and up to 8 columns, provided that sufficient information exists. The top row of the table should provide the title for each column. Junction lists should list junctions in order from the beginning to the end of the road. See the documentation of Infobox Road template on how to pick a road's starting point.
North America
For roads in North America, the columns for distance should be listed in both mi and km. These columns should be listed using table headers.
Location | mi | km | Exit | Destinations | Facilities | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Example Code
{| class="article-table" width="100%" !Location !mi !km !Exit !Destinations !Facilities !Notes |- | ! ! | | | | |}
Europe
For roads in Europe, the table should include a caption containing the full name of the road and any alternative names for the road. The coloration of the caption should match that of the sign for the road. These tables should also include the distance from both the start and end of the road in the units of measure used along the route. These tables should also include a column for Euroroutes concurrent with the road.
Autoroute A0 Alternative name of Road | |||||||
Location | ↓km↓ | ↑km↑ | Exit | Destinations | Facilities | Notes | European Road |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Example Code
{| class="article-table" width="100%" |- align="center" bgcolor="B8212B" style="color: white;font-size:100%;" | colspan="8" | '''Autoroute A0'''<br>''Alternative name of Road'' |- !Location !↓km↓ !↑km↑ !Exit !Destinations !Facilities !Notes !European Road |- | | | | | | | | |}
Column Descriptions
Location
- The city or town the junction is located in, as well as a link to the wiki page for the location.
- If no clear city or town exists at junction, leave cell blank.
- If adjacent rows share a location, merge the location cells together.
km & mi
North America
- The distance from the beginning of the road in the column's listed units.
- The order of these columns should be dependent on the units used in the country the road is located in for speed and distance.
- If the host country uses the metric system (I.e. meters, kilometers, km/h), km comes first.
- If the host country uses the imperial system (I.e. yards, miles, mph), mi comes first.
Europe
- The distance from the beginning or end of the road in the column's listed units.
- Down arrows (↓) surrounding the units mean distance from beginning.
- Up arrows (↑) surrounding the units mean distance from end.
- The units used should reflect the units used in the country the road is located in for speed and distance.
- If the host country uses the metric system (I.e. meters, kilometers, km/h), use km.
- If the host country uses the imperial system (I.e. yards, miles, mph), use mi.
Exit
- The exit number associated with the junction. Found on signs at and/or preceding the junction on freeway or motorway sections of road.
- If no exit number exists at junction:
- On a section of road with cross traffic, leave table cell blank.
- On a section of highway with exits, fill cell with "--" or equivalent.
- If road has no exit numbers along entirety of route, remove column.
Destinations
- Any and all roads and locations that can be reached by this junction.
- Every destination at a junction should be separated by a line break (<br>).
- In general, this should reflect what is said on the road signs at the junction, but there are a few exceptions.
Minor Roads & City Streets
- If name is available, list destination as the name of the street.
- If name is unavailable, list destination as "Minor road"
Numbered Roads
- At the start of destination, include a 20px image (or {{RSIGN}} template) of the road icon, followed by the name of the road.
- Include the road's destinations listed on road signs.
- If no road signs list destination, use the next major city the road will encounter along its route.
- For concurrent routes, include road icons at start of destination before the name of the routes.
- Europe
- List concurrent routes in order of:
- Autoroute (or equivalent per country)
- Euroroute
- After which, list routes in numerical order.
- List concurrent routes in order of:
- North America
- List concurrent routes in order of:
- Interstate or Interstate Business Route
- US Highway, Aux US Highway, or US Highway Business Route
- State Highway
- After which, list routes in numerical order.
- For roads that route to other routes, include the icons in the order they would be driven on.
- For example, US 395 to Interstate 182 in Kennewick would show their shields as
- For roads that only go in one direction from the junction, include the directionality of the road. This direction should be capitalized.
- List concurrent routes in order of:
Cities & Towns
- If a road has multiple facilities and/or depots leading directly onto it within a particular city/town (such as US 191 in Moab), list junction as the city/town name.
Roadside Facilities
- List junction as a description of the facility
- See Gas Station, Rest Area, Truck Stop, Toll Gate, Weigh Station, and Border Crossing for details.
- For viewpoints or areas with achievements, list the name of the area.
- For achievements, include a link to the achievements page.
Facilities
- Any and all Facilities that can be accessed at the junction.
- For each facility, please use the corresponding template.
- List the facilities in the following order, only including the ones that pertain to that junction:
- Port – Ferry port
- Chunnel – Channel Tunnel terminal
- Viewpoint – Viewpoint
- Gas – Fueling Station
- Toll – Toll gate
- Border – Border Crossing
- Agricheck – Agricultural station
- Rest – Resting place
- Weigh – Weigh station
- Recruitment – Recruitment agency
- Service – Service station
- Dealer – Truck dealer (Include link to truck brand)
- Garage – Garage (either owned or unowned)
- If road has no facilities along entirety of route, remove column.
European Road
- Europe-based roads only
- The icons for any and all Euroroutes concurrent with the road.
- Not needed for pages on Euroroutes
Notes
- Any additional information about the junction.
- Common notes:
- Terminus of route
- Terminus of concurrency
- TOTSO
- Left exit
- Inaccessible destination
- Exit/entrance for one direction only
Multi-Column Cells
Certain information about a road's route should be conveyed using a cell in the junction list that spans all columns.
Discontinuities
- If a road is separated into multiple discontinuous sections, include a note for both the end of one section and the beginning of the next.
- Note should be entirely in bold text
- Sections should be labelled using increasing ordinal terms (i.e. first, second, third, etc.) based on their distance from the beginning of the road.
- Clocked milage should not include the distance travelled between sections.
- If a section of road is marked, but the entire section is not accessible in-game (e.g. WYO 120 in Thermopolis), include it as a section without length
- However, if no section of the road is accessible, a page should not be made about it
Ferries
- If a road is concurrent with a ferry for part of its route, include the route the ferry takes and the ferry operator.
- Include the port on both sides of the ferry as destinations.
- Clocked milage should not include the distance travelled by ferry.
Continuations
- If the route continues under a different designation (either a different numbered road or named minor road) beyond this road's terminus, note the continuing road's designation and direction of travel.
- This could also be applicable for ends of discontinuous road segments if the segment ends with a TOTSO. In this case, include the information in the same cell as the "end of section" or "beginning of section" note.
