Update 1.48.5 is a maintenance update, as well as a major patch of update 1.48 for Euro Truck Simulator 2, released on October 12, 2023.
Summary
Update 1.48.5 for Euro Truck Simulator 2 brings the 2022 DAF XD and Trieste, an Italian city that lies on a narrow strip of Italian territory, along with the updated cities of Ancona and Bari.
The development team for the West Balkans DLC is gearing up for the map expansion's release. To pave the way for it, they are currently rolling out this update. It doesn't bump the game version all the way up by a whole number (unlike the previous major update), as this is mostly really about tidying up some data for Euro Truck Simulator 2.
SCS Software is hard at work behind the scenes, bug fixing and polishing; making sure everything is in place for a smooth release for the West Balkans DLC. This includes tirelessly iterating over multiple databases with the world economy and route access topology, and implementing related code changes and cleanups. In addition to their under-the-hood data changes, there are still some visible highlights of this update according to SCS. Players can look forward to exploring the newly added city of Trieste, along with the updated cities of Ancona and Bari. These changes were previously described on their blog with dedicated articles related to the latter cities. The ETS2 1.48.5 Maintenance Update is an important step in preparing for the West Balkans release, as it brings with it not only bug fixes but also exciting new map content that will allow better connection to the new part of the game’s universe.
