Hello Truck Simulator Wiki contributors!

A week ago, I have created a blog about the mentioned-only settlements to be removed from the Truck Simulator Wiki, and I thank you all for your feedback for my "updated" policy of mentioned-only settlements in the wiki.

On the first day of the plan, some wiki contributors started talking about the "relative", "informative", and the "worth-keeping" in-game settlements that I did not include (nor thought about) the exceptions of such locations. For example, a nearby junction (e.g. Grass Range, MT), or a settlement that only features a major facility at a junction (e.g. Cameron, AZ). At first, I only included such settlements that were "doubtful" of its future rendering that is only mentioned on road signs, but I never thought of the other exceptions I planned on keeping or removing from the wiki. After these discussions were developed and discussed, I immediately accepted the "exceptions" of settlements shown on distance signs that would lead not to the settlement but a nearby junction, which then I had to update my blog about the settlements shown on distanced-based signs.

Recap of the "updated" policy

Here's a recap of what will happen to the mentioned-only settlements wiki:

  • Settlements in-game that are rendered as "accessible" or "not accessible" to the player will be kept.
  • Settlements that only appear on road signs (excluding distance signs) will be removed from all lists of "villages" and "scenery towns".
  • Already-created articles about mentioned-only settlements will be deleted, even if they were created a long time ago.
  • Articles about the "junction" or the "major facility" (or both) without the real-life settlement rendered will count as a "scenery town" or "village" depending on how it is rendered in-game.
  • This action can be reverted if the mentioned-only settlement will be included as a rendered settlement in a future update. Citations must be included!
  • All screenshots showcasing a mentioned-only settlement in-game should be deleted. According to our layout guidelines on cities and towns, "a screenshot just showing the place name on a road sign is not evidence".

When should this project begin?

As I already mentioned, it has been a week since I published the blog with the decision of removing the mentioned-only settlements in the wiki. After discussion about the "exceptions" of what should be kept and what should be removed from the wiki, I think it's time to start discussing this question - When should we start removing mentioned-only settlements form the wiki?

Let's start with my opinion to when it should start: Whenever the Truck Simulator Wiki community is ready to start! There is no rush in starting this project, we are ready when we are ready.

Any feedback?

Don't hesitate to discuss about this project. I would love any feedback about the "update" and discuss a plan to when we want to begin this major community project. I thank you all for your time to read this.
